friggio works without an account.
We collect only what's needed to track your pantry and remind you before food expires. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps.
01 Who we are
friggio (the "app") is operated by Oleksandr Nechpai, operating as Nordbytenova ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. This policy explains what data the app processes, why, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at support@nordbytenova.com.
02 Information we collect
friggio is designed to work without a name, email address, or social login. The information we process is:
Information you add
- Pantry data โ the food items you add (names, categories, estimated prices, purchase dates, and expiry dates), and whether you marked an item as used or thrown away.
- Preferences โ your chosen language, currency, household size, whether you have a pet, recipe style, and notification settings.
- Feedback โ if you send feedback from within the app, we receive your message along with your app version and language so we can respond and improve.
Information collected automatically
- Device identifier โ a random identifier generated on your device the first time you open the app. It lets your pantry sync without an account. It is not your Apple ID and is not linked to your real-world identity.
- Subscription status โ if you upgrade to friggio Pro, we receive your subscription state from Apple (active / expired). Apple processes the payment; we never receive your card or payment details.
- Push token โ only if you enable notifications, so we can send expiry reminders. We never send the token to anyone but Apple's notification service.
- Diagnostic logs โ to keep the service reliable and secure, our servers record technical logs of requests. These include your device identifier and may include the request contents (such as item names and prices), but never your name, email, or payment details. Logs are kept for a limited period (around 30 days).
We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, precise location, advertising identifiers, or browsing history, and we do not use any third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
Device permissions
The app asks for these permissions only for the features you use, and you can change them anytime in iOS Settings:
- Camera โ to photograph receipts for scanning.
- Microphone & Speech Recognition โ to add items by voice (see below).
- Photos โ only to save a savings/stats image to your photo library when you choose to share it. We do not read your photo library.
- Notifications โ to send expiry reminders, if you opt in.
03 How we use your information
- To store and sync your pantry across app sessions and reinstalls.
- To calculate expiry dates and send you reminders before food goes off.
- To estimate how much money you save by using food in time.
- To suggest recipes based on what's about to expire.
- To provide the app in your language and currency.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service, and to provide support.
Our legal bases (where UK/EU GDPR applies) are performance of a contract (providing the app you asked for) and our legitimate interests in keeping the service reliable and secure. Notifications are sent only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in iOS Settings.
04 Receipt photos & voice input
Receipt scanning
When you scan a receipt, the photo is sent securely to our servers and on to our receipt-reading providers (Google Cloud Vertex AI, with Fireworks AI as a backup โ see Service Providers below) for the sole purpose of extracting the list of items and their likely shelf life. The photo is processed in memory and is not stored on our servers โ we keep the extracted items, not the image. It is never used to build an advertising profile or sold to anyone. If we can't confidently categorize an item, its name (text only, no image) may be sent to a classification provider to determine its category and typical shelf life.
Voice input
Voice entry uses Apple's on-device speech recognition where available, so your speech stays on your device. When an on-device model isn't available for your language, iOS may send audio to Apple's speech-recognition service to convert it to text, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. friggio receives only the resulting text โ the items you spoke.
06 How long we keep data
We keep your pantry and preference data for as long as the app is installed and in use, so your history and savings remain available. Receipt photos are not retained โ they are processed in memory and discarded once items are extracted. Diagnostic logs are kept for a limited period (around 30 days). If you ask us to delete your data (see below), we erase the data associated with your device identifier, except where we must retain limited records for legal or security reasons.
07 Your rights & deleting your data
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
- Delete in-app: you can remove individual items at any time within friggio.
- Delete everything: email support@nordbytenova.com and we will erase the data associated with your device identifier.
- Manage your subscription: through your Apple ID in iOS Settings.
If you are in the UK or EU and believe we've mishandled your data, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
08 Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Your device identifier and session credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain. We restrict access to personal data to what is necessary to operate the service.
09 Children
friggio is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10 Changes & contact
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll provide notice in the app where appropriate.
